The Role

Representing Douglas College at the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre, the Career Coachwill deliver Case Management Services to help Clients achieve and maintain sustainable labour market attachments. They will serve general clients but also specialize in serving youth and youth at risk. They will maintain exemplary customer service while ensuring that they meet or exceed the Centre's service utilization targets and key performance measures as outlined for each Career Coach.


    •Conduct assessments to determine the appropriate WorkBC services and supports. •Assist Clients with the development of individualized action plans that clearly outline the Client's goals, service needs, and steps to achieve their desired employment. Revise and update the action plan as needed; •Provide clients with job search and career planning assistance to build on skills, strengths and experience, and where appropriate internal referrals •Refer clients to other community services and resources for wrap around supports. •Determine eligibility for Financial Supports; •Maintain regular contact with Clients to support, motivate, and monitor progress •Assess and refer for specialized assessments when needed; •Maintain up-to-date documentation of Client's progress and outcomes using the Ministry approved database;

    •Provide outreach for case managed services as needed. •Represent the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre through participation in community events, such as career fairs, community days, and other special events;

    •Participate in regular team meetings, strategic planning and program review sessions as scheduled; •Foster positive, productive working relationships and work collaboratively to contribute to a positive work environment based on mutual respect. •Perform miscellaneous duties as required.

To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need


    •A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and career consulting experience; •Experience with employment counseling and programs; •Demonstrated ability to use computer software applications including MS Office, Database entry and ability to research information using the Internet; •Creative and passionate about working with clients to secure sustainable employment; •Possess strong interpersonal skills; •Knowledge of career assessment, problem solving strategies, and decision making theories; •Knowledge of local labour market and trends; •Knowledge of WorkBC and its mandate; •Willingness to travel within Lower Mainland and reliable transportation with valid BC Driver's License; •Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record check including a vulnerable population check. A criminal record will not automatically result in your application for employment being denied.

    •Career Development Practitioner ( CDP )
