On behalf of our client, Siemens Transportation Group Inc, we are searching for a Controller to join their team in Saskatoon, SK. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Controller is part of the senior leadership team who will oversee the financial activities of the organization, as well as managing a team of talented Finance and Administrative staff. The successful candidate will provide direction to make sound finance decisions and guidance to monitor the team performance. On top of that, the following incumbent will work closely with IT and Operation leaders in developing systematic and effective processes for the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction relating to accounting and finance operation
  • Acts as an effective performance coach and supervisor to all the Finance and Administrative team member
  • Partner with IT and Operations in the leadership of system process to ensure operations run smoothly
  • Maintain and develop reports on various costs and revenues in order to identify trends, assess information, generate recommendations and communicate meaningful information to management
  • Identify and analyze variances in monthly operating statements including variances between periods and those between projected and actual financial results
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements and reports as required
  • Assess business gaps and recommend solutions to improve business systems processes as it relates to IT
  • Maintain confidentiality pertaining to all aspects of company matters

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Professional Accounting Designation (CA or CMA, CPA) with 7-10 years of experience in a senior accounting role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years People Management and Business Analysis experience
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, information technology and corporate reporting requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of computer software programs including accounting packages and PC based spreadsheet/word processing packages in a windows environment
  • Experience in the transportation industry is considered an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and customers to maximize performance and results
  • Demonstrates strong project management skills and capable of overseeing multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Highly detail oriented and well-organized
