Position Overview: Reporting to the Field Service Foreman, this individual will be responsible for all repairs, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, and maintaining mobile heavy-duty Caterpillar equipment used in construction, forestry, mining, oil, and gas, must be able to perform each essential function adequately.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all heavy duty equipment and/or related equipment in a timely fashion
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance work

Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Understanding of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems and components
  • Have a concern for safety and awareness of safe working procedures
  • Ability to multi task, detail oriented, positive attitude, and team player
  • The ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Computer knowledge
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team
  • An interest in keeping up with new technologies
  • Able to repair all equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong knowledge of parts and repairs
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and service literature
  • Ability to create standard correspondence
  • T/S and repair Cat equipment

Education & Experience:
  • Heavy Equipment Technician (Red Seal)
  • Previous experience with Caterpillar equipment/engines (min 4 yrs)
  • Vast knowledge of troubleshooting procedures and repairing equipment, with great knowledge of CAT Equipment

  • Valid Driver's license
  • H2S Alive
  • Fall Protection
  • Forklift
  • Overhead Crane
  • Eye, Hand and Back Safety
  • Transportation of Dangerous goods
  • Contamination control
  • Any other relevant training as required
  • Great customer relations
  • Position is based out of Saskatoon with work mainly in Battleford area
