Job Description

Senior Full Stack Developer contract opportunities supporting user-centred digital services and modernization initiatives for a provincial government organization.

Primarily remote, with all work performed within Canada.
Initial term: 1 year (Possible extensions up to 24 additional months)
Full-time, 36.25 hours per week.
Occasional Edmonton attendance required.

What & Why:
Our client is expanding its digital delivery capability to make government services simpler and easier to use. You will join a cross-functional team working on service innovation, program review and digital transformation. Working across two to three projects, you will contribute from discovery and solution design through development, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement. Your work will help translate user and business needs into reliable software and reusable capabilities.

Who:
You will collaborate with product owners, developers, front-end designers and other members of multidisciplinary delivery teams. Teams use human-centred design, Agile methods and modern data practices. Developers participate in research, technical discovery, backlog refinement, sprint planning and delivery.

You:
You are a senior developer with hands-on experience across the front end and back end of complex production applications. You can explain technical options, estimate effort, write maintainable code and support reliable releases. You work effectively with designers and product owners and can demonstrate how your contribution improved a product or service.
Critical Experience Requirements:

At least five years of full stack development on complex software solutions in an Agile environment.
At least five years using source control, particularly Git, in collaborative development.
At least three years of automated unit testing and integration testing.
At least three years with database technologies, including relational databases and alternatives.
At least three years developing production applications using modern application frameworks.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent background accepted under the client’s criteria.
Ability to work within Canada and cover Alberta business hours.
Ability to attend Edmonton sessions on reasonable notice.
Ability to supply the required computer, software and remote workspace.
Willingness and eligibility to complete applicable security screening.

Nice to Have:

Incremental modernization of legacy systems.
Design patterns and software architecture.
CI/CD pipelines.
Collaboration with UX and service design teams.
Government of Alberta development guidelines and principles.
Relevant experience applying generative AI and agentic tools.

Compensation:
Hourly contract compensation will be discussed based on experience, engagement structure and alignment with the client’s requirements.
