THE JOB: Governance Policy Analyst
The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.
Starting Salary Range: $80,066- $100,083
The Governance Policy Analyst plays a critical role in supporting governance initiatives and driving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Board, the Representative Assembly, and committees at Doctors of BC. Reporting to the Director, Governance, this position is responsible for conducting in-depth research on governance best practices, preparing reports, proposals, and policies, and implementing training materials related to the organization’s governance structure. The role involves a strategic focus on governance analysis, ensuring that best practices are integrated into the Board of Directors, Representative Assembly, and various committees to promote continuous improvement and alignment with organizational goals
The Governance Policy Analyst will contribute to enhancing governance by applying strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Effective communication (written, oral, and visual) is vital to presenting information clearly to partners and interested parties. This role will require the ability to navigate complex governance issues with diplomacy, ensuring continuous learning and contributing to the organization’s ongoing growth in governance maturity.
This role emphasizes maintaining high ethical standards and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, helping to align the organization’s governance activities with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The Governance Policy Analyst will work closely with team members and leadership to foster collaboration, build strong relationships, and ensure the successful execution of governance and similar projects. In addition, the Governance Policy Analyst will be a key player in promoting diversity and inclusion within the governance framework by researching and implementing inclusive policies and practices.
The Governance Policy Analyst will be instrumental in shaping and advancing the governance processes at Doctors of BC, ensuring a strategic, effective, and inclusive approach to decision-making.

WHAT YOU BRING
- A university degree in a related field, such as political or social sciences, business, law, or organizational governance, and/or recognized professional designation such as the Governance Professionals of Canada GPC.D or the Institute of Corporate Directors ICD.D, with at least five years of related experience.
- Direct experience working with or for elected and/or appointed governing bodies such as boards, committees, local government councils or similar. Experience with a variety of non-profit, for-profit, government and other governance bodies is preferred.
- Superior research and writing skills, and proven ability to develop clear and concise communications.
- An understanding of policy and strategic planning processes.
- Sound judgement in setting priorities and managing time, identifying issues and problem-solving while working towards deadlines.
- Adept at balancing major concurrent tasks and projects and working with internal and external parties in a coordinated manner.
- Organized, resourceful and efficient with an outstanding attention to detail, particularly in matters related to internal and external communications.
- Familiarity with BC’s Societies Act and non-profit governance standards is preferred.
- Knowledge of BC’s health care system and experience working with physicians would be considered an asset.m and experience working with physicians would be considered an asset.
