WSP is embarking on an exciting journey to transform the way our global IT organization delivers services, operates platforms, and supports our people. To accelerate this vision, we are establishing a new Automation Center of Excellence (CoE) focused on modernizing and automating processes across all IT functions.

We are seeking a visionary yet deeply technical IT Automation Architect to help define, build, and scale this new capability. The IT Automation Architect will play a pivotal role in defining WSP's IT automation ecosystem. You will architect automation frameworks, patterns, and guardrails, while driving adoption across all IT teams. This role blends deep technical engineering expertise with strategic architectural thinking. You will set the standards for how IT teams design, build, and deliver automation. This role is strictly focused on automation of IT-owned processes, systems, and operational workflows

If you're energized by architecting automation ecosystems, establishing governance, enabling engineering teams, and delivering real operational impact through automation, then this role is for you.

  • Contribute to building and maturing WSP's Automation CoE operating model.
  • Partner with IT teams to identify automation opportunities that improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and enhance service delivery.
  • Drive adoption of standard toolsets, coding practices, design reviews, and automation quality checks.
  • Architect automation solutions across IT domains including:
  • Cloud provisioning and lifecycle management
  • Network and security operations
  • Identity and access lifecycle workflows
  • Endpoint automation

  • Implement automation using modern toolsets (Terraform, Bicep/ARM, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, GitHub/GitLab pipelines, ServiceNow workflow automation, Azure Automation, etc.).
  • Ensure automations are secure, auditable, observable, and scalable.
  • Define guardrails that enable autonomy while protecting security and compliance.
  • Embed IAM, secret management, least privilege, and auditability requirements into automation patterns.
  • Establish version control practices, pipeline controls, code reviews, and lifecycle governance.
  • Work closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Cybersecurity, EUC, and Operations teams to uplift automation capability.
  • Lead architecture reviews, automation workshops, and design sessions.
  • Mentor engineers and promote an automation-first culture across IT.

The skills that set you apart
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10+ years of hands-on engineering and automation experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong architecture experience with automation platforms, IaC frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and workflow orchestration.
  • Proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform, Bicep/ARM, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, GitHub/GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, and event-driven automation services.
  • Experience implementing governance, standards, code quality controls, and secure automation practices.
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), networks, identity systems, and infrastructure services.
  • Experience contributing to an Automation CoE, platform engineering team, or similar strategic function.
  • Strong documentation, diagramming, and architectural storytelling abilities.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across a large, globally distributed enterprise IT environment.
