The primary role of the Stewardship Forester includes: Resource Monitoring, Silviculture, Strategic Operational Planning, Timber Supply Reviews, Land Based Investment Delivery, Forest Stewardship Plans and Forest Health. Job Requirements: - Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester, with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the ABCFP within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
- Work experience in resource management, preferably in forest management.
- Experience in engaging with stakeholders/partners in natural resource management.
Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:
- Work experience in one or more of the following areas of forestry: forest tenures, silviculture, harvest operations, permitting, planning, integrated resource management, or forestry contract administration.
- GIS applications experience.
- Operational and strategic forest landscape level planning experience.
- First Nations' engagement experience.
- Client service experience.
- Experience with government information systems (Reporting Silviculture Updates and Landstatus Tracking System (RESULTS), Forest Tenure Administration (FTA), Forest Stewardship Plans (FSP), etc.).
