The Senior Forest Carbon Policy Analyst provides professional advice related to the development of forest carbon projects and policies including projects developed under the Forest Carbon Offset Protocol and other forestry-related emission reduction activities. The Senior Forest Carbon Policy Analyst is the primary provincial expert who develops policies and procedures to support forest carbon projects on Crown land in British Columbia. They provide informed professional advice for high-level government priorities including forest and forestry related climate change commitments under CleanBC and the Climate Change Preparedness and Adaptation Strategy. The Senior Forest Carbon Policy Analyst collaborates with Indigenous communities and other partners across the forest sector, including government, industry, and consultants to support the development science-based forest carbon policies and projects. The Senior Forest Carbon Policy Analyst is responsible for considering other key government priorities such as (Indigenous reconciliation and GBA+) are considered in the development of policies, projects and programs.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirementas outlined below:
• University degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or related field and at least 3 years of current, related operational experience after an under-graduate degree; OR,
an equivalent combination of education and experience.*Related experience may include experience in more than one of these areas:
o Experience in facilitating the development of land and resource management plans with multi-stakeholder groups.
o Experience related to forest carbon or greenhouse gas accounting.
o Experience related to the development or implementation of offsets.
o Experience in preparing and delivering presentations on technical information and concepts.
• Registered (or immediately eligible for registration*) as a Professional Forester with the Association of BC Forest Professionals. *Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable Canadian jurisdiction. Applicants must confirm their eligibility with the ABCFP. Confirmation of registration/ eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
• Valid BC driver's licence.Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Experience resolving conflict in a manner that satisfies stakeholders with varying and opposing interests.
