The Multimedia Graphics Designer, also known as Digital Media Specialist, is a unique member of our Technology Strategy & Business Transformation (TSBT) team who creates innovative visual messages leveraging various media to advance our strategic priorities and champion our ideas. The successful candidate will work independently and effectively with multiple cross-functional partners, including senior executives, to deliver high quality products under tight timelines.
The core focus of this role is to partner with our Technology teams to help elevate external collateral for key stakeholder audiences, especially new technology graduates. We run a number of events on campuses each year, and you'll be part of putting together that experience for new graduates. To that end, you'll be a trusted advisor, brand expert and creative whizz, helping our teams effectively deliver their message, whether that's a business case, white paper, infographic, booth design, live technology demo, website, video story or interactive presentation, or even an entire design strategy.
The TSBT team is responsible for TELUS' next-generation network and information technology roadmap, and delivering best-in-class network and technology solutions to enable a superior customer experience. We are at the forefront of developing innovative new technologies that will transform the way we deliver service to our customers. We are also responsible for evolving TELUS' business models, supply chain, and technology investments so that our customers get faster access to the latest services.
As a high-performing member of our Strategic Initiatives team within TSBT organization, you will partner closely with other strategy and design primes within our team to deliver on initiatives specific to our marketing programs and our new graduates program. •Scope, execute on, and deliver project briefs from concept to finish
•Lead creative design solutions from conceptualization to design, final review, and production
•Develop real-time responsive content to adapt, react and respond to time-sensitive executive requests, leader needs, and/or opportunities to advance our messages
•Apply graphic design and brand best practices across a variety of mediums for effective visual storytelling
•Film and edit short videos, create motion graphic assets, and re-purpose assets to animate for other mediums
•Follow outlined project requirements, production methods, and schedules in accordance with established timelines and within established budgetary constraints
•Collaborate with other Designers to develop templates, shared artifacts and best practices for the wider team
•Present your concepts, in-progress design work and final products to executives, and other key stakeholders in an agile, iterative approach Qualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•Proven understanding of digital media & social media design and best practices that includes a thorough understanding of user-centered design practices and a solid foundation in graphic design principles
•Equal passion and aptitude for contributing at the strategic level as well as the hands-on, detailed level
•Ability to recommend and use the right medium for the job, whether that's animation, video, infographics, or 3D
•Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
•Deep understanding of graphic/visual design first principles including typography, sketching, composition, layout, color, iconography, and information design
•Excellent executive level verbal, written, and visual communication skills
•Proven ability to deliver high quality products under tight timelines while working with multiple contributors
•High attention to detail to ensure the best quality in conjunction with timely execution
•Proficiency in industry-standard graphic and multimedia tools including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Premiere Pro
•Sound understanding of print and web output formats: appropriate file type, resolution, color space
•Hands-on experience in video production and a deep understanding of video editing techniques and best practices
•Familiarity with using DSLR cameras for corporate/people/technology/product photography Great-to-haves
•5 years or more of working graphic design experience, with at least a few of those in a technology domain
•Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Fine Arts or Design Who is TELUS?
