What you can expect to do here:

Project Delivery:
  • Leadership and Oversight: Provide leadership, expertise, and oversight to guide engineering teams in producing high-quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals across all sectors.
  • Standardization: Ensure that engineering practices are standardized nationally and aligned with global WSP engineering practices and industry best practices.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support regulatory compliance by ensuring that all engineering activities adhere to relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Project Audits: Conduct project audits to identify, correct, and/or improve technical execution.
  • Monitoring: Periodically monitor the technical execution of critical projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including clients and regulatory bodies, to ensure alignment on technical strategies and project execution.
  • Design Participation: Participate directly in the design or interdisciplinary design reviews and technical coordination of key projects.
  • Risk Management: Support with conducting technical and commercially based risk assessments and mitigation plans.
  • Technical Challenge Resolution: Lead management efforts by addressing and resolving important technical challenges that may arise during project execution.

Team Management Support & Technical Leadership:
  • Best Practices Promotion: Promote best engineering practices within our engineering teams and inspire a culture of being responsive, reliable, and collaborative team players.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Act as a mentor and coach for delivering the highest levels of quality in technical performance by leading initiatives that drive innovative thinking and the application of state-of-the-art tools.
  • Professional Development: Encourage, support, and promote technical and professional development.
  • Team Management: Assist, as required, Discipline Managers with team management, including training, hiring, goal setting, and performance reviews.
  • Staffing Requirements: Assist with short-, medium-, and long-term project staffing requirements.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Evaluation: Regularly evaluate the need to implement new tools, standards, and processes to optimize technical project delivery and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Drive sustainability initiatives across all sectors, promoting environmentally responsible practices in project delivery.
  • Innovation: Drive innovation by staying current with the latest engineering trends and technologies nationally and globally.
  • Quality Audits: Support the technical quality audit process (including lessons learned sessions) and address outcomes related to improvement opportunities, non-conformities, or lessons learned, with reports to WSP executive management.

Business & Strategic Support:
  • Strategic Assistance: Assist leadership and business development teams in defining strategies to meet medium- and long-term objectives.
  • Winning Strategies: Define and support pursuit teams with winning strategies for major project pursuits.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Support strategic initiatives such as partnership agreements with other consultants.
  • Expert Relationships: Identify and maintain relationships with experts from other WSP teams who could support projects (such as project-specific Expert Committees).
  • Business Collaboration: Collaborate with leadership to strategically drive the business and suggest improvements for project performance.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Professional Engineer: Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in any Provinces and Territories of Canada, or eligible to be licenced.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in multi disciplinary technical design and delivery throughout the full project lifecycle, with a minimum of 15 years, including experience across various sectors.
  • Consulting Environment: Experience in a design and project delivery consulting environment.
  • Leadership Capability: Strong leadership capability as evidenced by success in all project delivery work environments.
  • Project Execution: Experience in executing multi-discipline engineering work on large-scale complex projects across conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, basic and detailed engineering, including construction and commissioning.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of 3D modelling and Primavera P6.
  • Software Proficiency: Competent in the use of project management software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Integration Understanding: Understanding of how various discipline engineering activities interface and integrate into a complete project in the setting of a technical and safety assurance framework.
  • Group Management: Prior experience managing multidisciplinary engineering groups.
  • Mentorship Skills: Leadership and coaching skills in the development, training, and mentoring of team members and support staff.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Goal Commitment: Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

Compensation

Salary range (in British Columbia): $136,200 - $187,200
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
