Optical Transport - Development & Integrity team is comprised of highly skilled and experienced optical transport professionals who are passionate about delivering the world's best optical network experience to TELUS' customers. We are responsible for architecting, standardizing, testing, operationalizing and supporting new transport technology to TELUS production networks nationally.

As a Senior Design Specialist in the Optical Transport - Development & Integrity team, you will be responsible for the testing, introduction and advanced technical support of new technology and services in the TELUS Internet Protocol (IP) and Transport Infrastructure Development & Operations organization. You will specialize in optical transport technologies and be performing first office applications of new services, troubleshooting, testing, provisioning, and liaise with technical peers and Project Managers to ensure projects are completed. You will lead by influence and collaborate with other areas at TELUS and interact with senior leadership team on a regular basis.

Here's how
    •Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver new transport services •Provide architectural, reliability, and diversity recommendations to planning teams based on analysis of the project and business requirements •Auditing network equipment and installations to proactively maintain and operate a reliable optical transport network •Provide advanced technical support to Optical Transport - Operations - Tier 2 & 3 teams for major service troubles, and participating in the team's on-call rotation •Take ownership of problems, investigate root cause of production network and project operationalization issues, working closely with our vendors •Stay current with the changing environment, technologies, and platforms supported


Qualifications:


You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •Experience troubleshooting optical transport network problems •Comprehensive understanding of modern transport/optical networks, architectures, design, trends, and markets •Strong technical background with Fujitsu transport platforms •Skilled in using CircuitVision, MyWorld, NetSmart, Preside •Knowledge of Building Integrated Timing Supply (BITS)/Sync equipment and system architecture •Work collaboratively, sharing information, ideas, and resources with others •Able to perform multiple, technical, highly complex tasks without constant direction •Ability to effectively manage/control a technical bridge to quickly restore service during a service outage •University degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or Computer Science and/or equivalent combination of education and industry experience •8+ years of work experience in the industry supporting complex multi-provider transport networks
