The Opportunity:

WSP has a new opportunity for an experienced CAD Technician/ Designer (Drafter) to join our team on a full-time basis based in British Columbia (Vancouver, Kelowna, Victoria).

A day in the life in this role could involve:
  • Working closely with the various engineering and environmental groups to fill the needs of our internal and external clients in providing engineering design and drafting services.
  • Analyzing and reviewing survey data and identifying potential issues with the surface.
  • Interpret, and utilize topographic survey data, survey field notes, and engineering designs.
  • Performing advanced/complex calculations, optimize designs.
  • Design advanced/complex 3D models using a pre-established design criteria, assist engineers with analysis of proposed design elements.
  • Creating new drawings and editing existing drawings independently using field notes/client information.
  • Leading the drafting component on large projects by understanding the correlation between drawings and resourcing CAD technicians to assist with completing project deliverables.
  • Being responsible for product quality control with adherence to company standards and procedures
  • Providing supervision and mentorship of junior and intermediate employees.
  • Ensuring health and safety policies are followed at all sites and take WSP's Life-Saving rules to heart;

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

  • A technical diploma, CAD certificate or equivalent
  • 4-8 years of drafting experience
  • 4+ years of Civil 3D experience is required
  • A commitment to CAD standards and procedures is essential to this function
  • Good problem solver with the ability to identify alternative solutions
  • Ability to perform various calculations and data manipulation in Excel
  • The ability to work with multiple people and prioritize tasks is a must
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • The ability to learn and work with any of the following software would be considered an asset: Plant 3D, Navisworks, Infraworks, ReCap, Vulcan, Minesight, Global Mapper, Surfer, gINT, OpenGround, BIM 360, Bluebeam.

Compensation

  • Expected Salary (all locations): $53,900 - $91,700.
