The Opportunity
You're invited to take on a leadership role as Senior Technical Manager with WSP's Ontario Archaeology team - where your expertise will help shape meaningful projects across the province.
Your Impact
As a Senior Technical Manager on the WSP E&I Canada Limited Archaeology Team you will:
- Lead all aspects of archaeological assessment requirements aligned with the Ontario Heritage Act , Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act , Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM) policy and regulations, other provincial and federal regulations and policies.
- Research, prepare, and submit proposals and reports for a wide range of archaeological projects.
- In the role of Project Manager or Project Director, oversee project scope, budgets, schedules and quality, lead client and stakeholder communications, and delegate to and support staff.
- Provide visible leadership by promoting health, safety and security in your projects and teams.
- Provide senior technical oversight and review of technical reports to meet MCM and WSP quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Field Operations Lead to arrange internal resources and logistics for your projects.
- Mentor archaeological staff.
- Support business development activities.
- Interact with senior leadership, clients, regulators and members of Indigenous Nations and communities.
- Analyze and interpret archaeological data.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Professional license to conduct archaeological fieldwork in Ontario in good standing with the MCM.
- 18+ years of experience in consulting archaeology in Ontario.
- Broad expertise in both the practice and the business aspects of consulting archaeology.
- Expert knowledge of Ontario archaeology with an applied understanding of current Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists issued by the MCM and associated Technical Bulletins.
- Capable of independently delivering quality work in a deadline-driven environment including making decisions on highly complex issues.
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring employees.
- Able to anticipate business needs, secure required resources and lead initiatives to implement changes in the organization when required.
- Able to follow and implement both technical and safety training and instructions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in providing quality control of client deliverables and providing constructive feedback to staff regarding how to improve deliverables in future.
- Experience designing scope and budget for archaeological projects of all sizes and complexities.
- Strong understanding of project financial management.
- Able to obtain Provincial and Federal Security Clearance.
- A valid Canadian driver's license with satisfactory driving record, per the WSP's driving policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of Ontario historical period and/or Indigenous material culture.
- Understanding of requirements for archaeology on federal lands
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP).
Compensation
- BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT: $132,700 - $175,800
- MB & ON: $121,100 - $166,700
- Atlantic Provinces & QC: $119,900 - $159,200
